Course description

Participants on this course will gain knowledge about challenging behaviours.Challenging behaviour used to be described as ‘problem behaviour’ or ‘difficult behaviour’ or ‘socially unacceptable behaviour’.

But in recent years, the term challenging behaviour reflects the fact that some of the behaviours are a challenge to
professionals, teachers, carers and parents.

This course offers you opportunity to consider different behaviours and strategies that can be used.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course participants will have gained knowledge to:

  • Appreciate how feelings drive behaviour and to recognise early warning signs

  • Understand low to high level behaviours and how to respond appropriately

  • To be able to use the ABC model of behaviour

  • Building positive attachments through an understanding of how behaviour is a form of communication

  • To gain a toolbox of positive strategies
