Course description

The aim of the training is to inform delegates of the legal requirements for the safe management of asbestos.

This course will provide information on the risks associated with asbestos, and enable delegates to implement suitable and sufficient management systems, to ensure compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

There is particular reference to the duty holder and who that could be, the surveys available, what to expect in a survey and the asbestos management plan and its use and requirement.

Training objectives

By the end of the course, it is anticipated you will know:

  • What asbestos is, its properties and its effect on health.

  • Where asbestos is likely to be found and what asbestos containing materials look like.

  • The basic requirements of the law and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

  • How to avoid exposures to asbestos, including the use of the asbestos management plan and the asbestos register.

  • The general procedures to be followed in dealing with an asbestos emergency.

Learning outcomes

This course is unaccredited.  

Please note that participants in this course should also attend the Controller of Premises course. 

Additional Information

Please note that parking around St.Mary's House is very limited. There is a car park at the railway station some 7 minutes walk from St.Mary's House, at a cost of (about) £5 per day.

Corporate Training provide tea and coffee. There is no canteen on site, though a sandwich service does call daily at around 10.45am.
