This year’s Time to Talk day is Thursday 6 February.
The day is an opportunity to talk about mental health with the aim to support those around you and help change lives.
Following on the sold out sessions delivered to Orbis colleagues, Emma Law, Head of Policy, Resources & Development, in the Procurement Team, is now extending these, hour long sessions to the wider ESCC community as part of this year’s ‘Time to Talk Day’.
Emma says “The story behind this talk is that I’ve lived through several bouts of depression. It’s also something that has taken away good friends and affected members of my close family, which is no surprise as we know that mental health issues can affect 1 in 4 of the UK population. But it has always surprised me how little these things are talked about given how common they are. This is what has inspired me to become a Mental Health First Aider at ESCC. Two years ago, I went to a TED Talk by Jake Tyler (at the Brighton TEDx), and at this session we will be looking at Jake’s inspirational TED talk, find out some facts about mental health issues, as well as investigating good self-care.”
If this interests you and you would like to come along, please book onto one of the two sessions;
WH2, Westfield House, County Hall, Lewes from 9.45am-10.45am on Thursday 6 February
Seven Sisters, Training Centre, St Mary’s House, Eastbourne from 2pm-3pm on Thursday 6 February
Tickets are on a first come first served basis so book early to avoid missing out!
